Hi, my name is John Cantrell and I trade as Australian 4x4 Driver Training based in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. I have another business called Australian 4x4 Travel which runs the Tag Along Tour side of the business as well as selling off road maps, guides and GPS units on the internet

With over 40 years of four wheel drive driving experience over all kinds of terrain in Australia and overseas and over 25 years experience of developing and delivering training courses at one-on-one, group and corporate levels, I have designed my 4wd driving courses to give you the maximum benefit of my experience and in a manner that should be fun as well as rewarding

I don't conduct training courses on man made tracks because I don't think they prepare you for the real world. All of my courses are conducted in the bush in a realistic off road environment on bush tracks that are sometimes rough

I continually upgrade my training that I receive from others and have upgraded to the latest TAE40110 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the previous TAA40104 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. My 4wd Competency certificates have also been upgraded to the latest units from the SIS10 package.

My courses are constantly under review as I continually strive to deliver excellence in training and my methods are regularly updated in line with best industry practice.

I was the first New South Wales 4wd driver training business to be approved to offer training in the new and updated 4wd driver training units of competency which include -

SISODRV302A - Drive and Recover a 4wd Vehicle
SISODRV405A - Coordinate Recovery of 4wd Vehicles
SISODRV404A - Drive a 4wd Vehicle in Difficult Terrain

Apart from my commercial driver training activities I operate 4wd Tag along tours, mainly to the North Simpson Desert, The Outback and Victorian High Country, several times a year.

I have a Special Purpose permit from Forests NSW, an Eco Pass from National Parks and Wildlife, a tour operators licence for Parks Victoria as well as from National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia.

I am also a member of the 4wd NSW ACT Driver Training Unit, this is a voluntary position that lets me return something to those involved in 4wd recreational activities that has been my passion for so long. I am also a past director, training officer and driver trainer for the Range Rover Club of NSW
