Accommodation suggestions in the area
during training courses
Hampton
Halfway Hotel/Motel
at Hampton about 20km from the training area. A great historic and
friendly country pub with a great atmosphere and with a major
renovation having been tastefully done in recent months. All rooms
are en-suite and renovated. All rooms have a balcony attached with
lovely views across the valley. Meals are good and affordable.
Bookings essential on (02) 6359 3302 open daily from 8.30am, I
normally stay at the Hampton during training courses, it is a bit
further away from the training than some of the others but the extra
drive is well worth it.
Royal Hotel, Wallerawang (also known as The Top Pub)
A reasonably quiet pub with reasonably new and tidy cabins
completely self contained and comfortable, rooms inside the
hotel reasonably priced but older style and not en-suite, good
menu for evening meals. Cabins have on-suite shower, toilet and
hand basin, all cabins complete with TV, microwave, kettle,
toaster, crockery and cutlery. Off street parking right next to
your cabin. BBQ area. Bookings essential Phone (02) 6355 7023.
The bakery is just up the road that will do you a great
breakfast.
Commercial Hotel, Wallerawang
Very, very noisy most Saturday nights as well as some week
nights, not very friendly but not far from the training area.
Renovated rooms but not en-suite, one bathroom for all rooms,
off street parking. Restaurant for evening meals. Family rooms
with bunk beds. No breakfast but bakery in town that opens at
6am and does good egg and bacon rolls and so on. Booking
essential (02) 6355 1089
The
Zig Zag Motel and the Parkside Motor Inn in Lithgow
both are well run and both seam to be reasonable places to stay at
in town with good rooms and meals available. Booking for the Zig Zag
on (02) 6352 2477 and the Parkside on (02) 6351 2871
Bushman's
Motor Inn at Marrangaroo, between our training area and
Lithgow. Has recently changed hands, evening meals and breakfast,
clean rooms with free wi-fi. Phone (02) 6352 1655 to make a booking.
Camping - Situated on the shores of the picturesque Lake
Lyell there is a clean, very well run and managed caravan and
camping site which is about 10 minutes away from the training area.
It is a very popular destination so I suggest you book sooner rather
than later. Their phone number is (02) 6355 6547
There is a wide selection of other accomodation in the Lithgow and
surrounding area from budget accommodation at the
Lithgow
Valley
Motel, phone (02) 6351
2334, to the best of the pick probably being the
Bowen
Motor
Inn, phone (02) 6352 5111.
Offering good value, is the
Zig
Zag
Motel with clean rooms and restaurant facilities, situated
on the outskirts of Lithgow. Phone (02) 6352 2477
Rydal Pub,
also known as the
Hotel
Alexander, - NOT recommended - relatively cheap with meals
available. If you intend taking your wife or female partner then
there are probably better options available elsewhere. Rooms not on
suite but with communal unisex toilets and showers down the
passage, these can get congested. You are likely to have
interupted sleep from train noise at night as the hotel is next to
the main railway line to the west and several trains pass through,
plus there is a level crossing adjacent to the hotel. Some
rooms above the bar which can be noisy at times, particularly
if the jukebox is being played. Book after 4 pm Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday and after 12 midday Saturday and Sunday. The hotel is
closed outside of the above hours. The phone number is (02) 6355
